With the help of local volunteers, last year, The Council of British Hajjis (CBH) introduced vaccination clinics in Yorkshire. The aim was to help control and reduce overall costs of ACWY immunisation, a compulsory requirement for pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.
One other concern highlighted were rogue tour operators, providing ACWY vaccination certificates to pilgrims without the inoculations, putting people’s lives at risk.
With the strong support from our Muslim community, volunteer doctors vaccinated 300 pilgrims over 3 clinics to cover Ramadhan and Hajj.
It was heart warming that a doctor travelled by train from Leeds for his jab; not before volunteering his services, putting others first and waiting until the end for his vaccination!
The huge success of the clinics was from a collaborative effort of a diverse number of local volunteers, as follows:
Doctors | Nurses | Medical Students | Pharmacists
Non Medical Volunteers | Non Medical Students
Indian Muslim Welfare Society (IMWS)
