Lobouche to Gorakshep
The walk was tough with a few ridge walks, an ascent to a memorial site past frozen rivers surrounded by overwhelming views.
When we got to our lodge we ordered breakfask and waited for the rest of the group, the sun was shining with clear blue skies and the panoramic views were breathtaking. We were all excited and full of energy discussing the possibilities of doing Kalar Patar before heading for Everest Base Camp.
The group plan was to head for Everest Base Camp today then after a night’s rest climb Kalar Patar early next morning, this was optional with no guarantee of clear views. Kalar Patar was the hightest point we could reach on this trip and on a clear day like today see Everest in its splendour.
7 of us decided we would like to climb Kalar Patar before we walked to Base Camp. We put this to Chhewang who confirmed this was possible but the decision had to be made by Prakash. We were all on an adrenalin rush with the prospect of climbing Kalar Patar.
When Prakash arrived with the rest of the group, we put this to him, after a lot of persuasion he reluctantly agreed. Prakash knew we were all very focused and capable but I knew he wanted to keep the group together for the final push to Base Camp.
